Since his time at UNICAMP, Luiz specialized in optimization mathematical models and their impact on businesses. In the early 1980s, he had the pleasure of being one of the pioneers in developing optimization systems for feed formulation here in Brazil.
He witnessed how the entire animal nutrition chain faces enormous challenges: from fluctuations in raw material prices, through the nutritional variability of inputs, to strong competition that pressures them to constantly reduce costs, all without compromising the quality of finished products. And in this context, Optimal emerged.
In 1989, Luiz founded Optimal, bringing software that enables all areas of the company to have a broad view of how to improve their financial performance and continue creating high-value and quality products through formulation. Optimal has become one of the world's leading companies in formulation optimization and laboratory information management in the field of animal nutrition and production, serving thousands of companies and millions of people worldwide.
