From a pioneering vision to leadership in agribusiness solutions

More than three decades connecting science, technology, and results in agribusiness. From applied mathematics in a feed mill to the integrated ecosystem that now guides decisions across millions of tons of produced feed - this is the journey that built Optimal.

1980s

The seed at UNICAMP

Shortly after completing his master's degree in applied mathematics, Luiz Amaral had his first contact with the power of connected formulation environments while working at the former Mogiana Alimentos. There, he saw up close how formulation optimization and cross-functional integration could transform operations and helped build systems that positioned the company among the leading references in the international animal nutrition market.

1989

Optimal is born

With this technical foundation and practical industry experience, Luiz decided to launch a business to bring the same productivity gains and financial predictability to other companies in the animal nutrition value chain. Optimal was born and with it Pro Racao, its first software, developed for MS-DOS environments. It played a decisive role in consolidating Brazil as one of the main players in the global animal nutrition and production market.

1990s

Expansion in Latin America

The mission was clear from day one: create optimization systems capable of transforming formulation and operations in industry companies. This clarity of purpose led Optimal to establish itself as one of Brazil's leading technology companies, expanding across Latin America. It became one of the first Brazilian technology companies to represent the country at major international industry events, serving industries, cooperatives, and multinational groups with increasingly robust and integrated platforms.

2000s

LIMS, NIR, and the start of integration

Attentive to the growing value of connected environments, Optimal began developing laboratory software, helping industrial labs achieve greater standardization and more efficient quality-control workflows. It was also a pioneer in centralizing NIR data in statistical and laboratory software and one of the first companies in the world to integrate inline NIR technologies directly into the formulation process in real time.

2010s

From desktop systems to the cloud

Reinforcing its commitment to innovation, Optimal led the evolution of its legacy desktop systems into cloud platforms that were more modern, flexible, and future-ready. This transition combined cloud computing, APIs, new mathematical models, and real-time collaboration, expanding clients' performance, connectivity, and growth potential. This is how Optimal's new products were born: Formulamix and Labinfy.

Today

Global reference in decision infrastructure for agribusiness

Today, Optimal is a global reference in formulation software, laboratory data management (LIMS), and centralization of NIR and aminogram results. But its role goes beyond software: Optimal builds decision infrastructures, connecting formulation, laboratory, and process data in an integrated, collaborative, high-impact ecosystem, all in real time. It is this infrastructure that transforms data into decisions and decisions into results, directly impacting millions of tons of feed and food produced more efficiently every year.

From university to the field

Optimal was born with roots in academia and knowledge building. Since 1989, we have supported educational institutions with free access to our software, bringing to the classroom the same formulation optimization solutions used by leading companies in the market.
